What a Great Idea . . . A
Flexible Dog Treat Pouch
How Did You Come Up with Treat
Keep?
"The Treat Keep Story . . . How The
Revolutionary New Dog Training Tool and Dog
Treat Bag Began"
The creator of Treat
Keep® is Barb
Larson who has been in the Dog Grooming
Business for over 20 years. She went to Professional
Grooming School in Wisconsin and then
moved with her husband to Los
Angeles.
What an experience she had
grooming dogs in California. She and another
groomer joined together. After finding a mobile
grooming van, they went to Hollywood and
groomed many celebrities along with television
and movie industry executives. She would come
home everyday with new stories of the various
celebrities and their dogs. Doing 20 to 25 dogs
a day was not an easy job, but the fun she had
seeing the different stars, their homes and
dogs made up for all the hard work.

After she and
her husband moved to Colorado, she
became very active in the dog show
circuit. As you can see, she loves
working with her two Border Terriers
Stanley and Lois. As she continued to
show and finish her dogs, she also did
a lot of grooming.
She was always asked
if she had any dog training tips or ideas. You
can also find more dog training tips and ideas
at www.themommadog.com
One thing that kept bugging
her was keeping her dog treats handy. So, she
began to research and design an easy to use
flexible dog treat dispenser that she could use
at shows and when grooming and training dogs.
So Treat Keep® was born as a
Great Dog Treat
Pouch.

After researching extensively
for a flexible pouch, she found a company that
could make one similar to the old change purses
that when you press the sides together it pops
open. What luck!.
The Pouch is Large Enough To Fit In Your
Hand!
Plus, finding
the retractable reel was not easy. After
discovering you can import these from the Far
East, it truly was a new experience dealing
with Chinese companies that speak very little
English. But, it all came
together.
OK, so now she
wanted to produce 20,000 Treat
Keeps®
to
sell to dog owners, pet sitters and
clubs.

How Do You Assemble
20,000 Units Without Going
Crazy?
When Barb sat
down and assembled the clip on the reel
and then attached it to the pouch and
then placed them in a colorful
merchandising card and then placed them
into shipping cases, she threw her hands
up in the air and screamed "This will
take ten years to do". Oh being a
entrepreneur isn't as easy as everyone
thinks.
The Dear Lord Sent Northern
Hills Disability Training
Center!

What a blessing
we found the Northern Hills Disablilty training
Center in South Dakota which was located near
the plant that produced our pouch. Northern
Hills provides the support and services to
people with developmental disabilities. It
takes a lot of dexterity to assemble the pouch
with its tiny clip and then put everything
together. After testing a numer of different
assembly methods and even inventing jigs to
assist the workshop team, they were able to
assemble and package 20,000 units. It took a
little longer to finish the project but the
smiles and sense of accomplishment they get
from completing a job is well worth the
wait.
| If you know
someone or a company that needs
assembly or wants items
collated, have them call their
local county or state social
services office to locate a
workshop or disability center
that can help. Their fees are
very competitive and the smiles
you'll get from the workers
will be something you'll never
forget. |
That's the story
how Barb put her Treat
Keep® together and
she has been selling them all over the
world. Japan, Finland, England and most
recently she shipped a case to Russia.
She has sold thousands on the internet
with rave reviews.
Barb and her new product were
even featured in the local newspaper. They
wrote a terrific article about her adventure
launching a new product and how the team at
Northern Hills helped assemble and package for
her.
She also received terrific
reviews from industry magazines. Retail pet
professionals are always very interested in new
training tools.
Last Year she also had her
product featured in Taylor Gifts
catalog.
